Allergen Detection Service Dogsencourages community initiatives that promote health, safety, education, mutual understanding and respect of all individuals. The Founders’ Scholarship Program is a way to reward those who have given of themselves and have dedicated themselves to these same goals.

Description: This is a scholarship opportunity for those who are working to overcome the misunderstanding and resistance that are often encountered when allergy friendly initiatives are put into place. We are looking for the most innovative ideas that will help diffuse these tensions as well as build positive community relationships based on mutual understanding and respect. With this concept in mind, applicants will be judged on their personal contributions to educating the community about food allergies, promoting health and safety, encouraging open communication, as well as encouraging an atmosphere of understanding and respect. The effectiveness of their education campaign and the originality of their ideas will be taken into consideration. The selected applicant will be given a full scholarship covering the cost of the service dog, the training academy and the kids’ camp. Please note: Service dogs are only placed with qualified individuals.
Requirements for eligibility:
Must have been accepted as a qualified applicant into the Allergen Detection Service Dog program.
Must submit two letters of recommendation from individuals not related to you. At least one letter should come from a community leader. More than two letters of recommendation may be submitted.
Agreement to attend a 2012(June or December) session of the Allergen Detection Service Dog Training Course.
Scholars should be willing to send periodic updatesabout their experience to Allergen Detection Service Dogs.
May not be an immediate relative of anAllergen Detection Service Dogsstaff member (i.e. sibling, spouse or child)
Timetable:
Completed applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2012.
Scholarship recipients will be notified on or before March 15, 2012.
